Memoir story (ramen noodles)

Have you ever tried to make “ramen noodles”? It’s an easy three step process to cook. Anyone who can read directions can make them. If you can’t read then it’s still feasible because they have pictures of the three steps to make it even easier than it already is. It is a very simple meal to make, so I thought it would be easy for me to make all by myself one. I had never cooked a meal all by myself before, so I was up for the challenge.

I was about 12 when I decide to face my hunger head on, and cook myself dinner. I grew up in a household were my parents did everything for me. They cooked dinner every night for me, but that night I wanted to be independent and make my own dinner. I thought I would pick something nice and easy to make, and “what’s easier than ramen noodles” I thought. So decided this would be a good first meal to cook, there is no way I could mess it up. I was wrong. I messed it up big time.

I gave the directions a quick read and thought it was easy enough to remember. I measured out 2 cups of water like it was now big deal, and poured it in to the pot. So far, so good. Then, I poured the noodles in too the pot, and add the seasoning. Then I turned on the stove. I thought I was doing a pretty good job for my first time cooking. I left the stove on for three minutes, stirring the noodle every now and then, like the directions said. After the three minutes were up it was time to taste my magnificent meal. I poured the noodles into a bowl, and I noticed that the water wasn’t hot at all, it was luke warm. I just thought that the people, that wrote the directions, timed it so perfectly that the noodles would ready to eat right away, and you didn’t have to wait for it to cool down. I was wrong. When I took my first sip I immediately spit it out. It was the most disgusting thing I have ever tasted. I've had ramen noodles before so I knew what it was supposed to taste like. What I had concocted tasted nothing like regular ramen.

I wondered what went wrong. I thought maybe it was the water, but no the water was fine. I couldn’t figure out what went wrong. After some time of deep thought I figured I check the direction to see if by some chance I had messed up. I quickly noticed I messed up big time. Instead of adding everything at once, I was supposed to boil the water first. Then add the noodles and cook for three minutes while stirring occasionally. Then after the three minutes remove the pot from the stove and then add the seasoning.

It was the first meal I had ever made myself. I was being independent and thought I knew how to do everything, but I didn’t. I should have read the directions more thoroughly. It is very important to read the directions, especially when it comes to cooking food.

My hometown was a wonderful (or choose your own adjective) place to grow up.
- My hometown was an amazing place to grow up, because the whole town would gather up every week to have a fair with all sorts of games and shows.

Laci had a rather eccentric style.
-Laci's colthing choice is rather bizarre, she comes into to class with everyday wearing the same old pair of brightly colored parachute pants and a torn jean jacket on.
Mr. Brown is the worst teacher I’ve ever had.
- Mr. Brown is the worst teacher ever because he never teaches from the book, just his own experiences.

The room seemed very institutional.
- This room is so bland, its a milky white color with no windows and a single light.

Writer’s Autobiography

I have never considered myself a good writer. I don't like to write, so I never put anytime into my writing. I always have run-ons in my works too. I just don't enjoy writing at all it is just awful, unless its about a topic that  I really am interested in. But that never really happens.

My Themes

The theme that I want to do is Food. This is a good topic for me because I enjoy food. It seems like and easy topic for me. I always watch the food network and I work in a restaurant. I'm always around food and I feel like its a relate-able topic for me. Other topics that I could work with are the Technology theme and the Environment and Nature theme because I can relate to these topics too. I'm always surrounded by technology whether it be a cell phone or an iPod they are always by my side. Nature is also a good topic because I love being outside. I go rock climbing with my friends from time to time too. I feel like any of these 3 themes would be good for me.

Food ad

I think this is a really good advertisement for McDonalds. Its a very simple ad but the purpose is clear. McDonalds is now open all day and all night. When you first see this ad it looks like a crescent moon, but as you look at it more carefully you notice its not a moon but a hamburger bun. The light on the bun creates the look of a moon and the seed are like the craters on the moon. The ad makes the bun look like a moon to show that they are now open 24/7. The caption beside the bun-moon says "Open 24 hours" just to clear up any confusion about the ad.

This ad is pretty much targeted to anyone and everyone. But also, it could be specifically targeted to those late night eatters. The people that have to work late into the night and don't have where to go out to eat, they now have McDonalds at the ready for them. I know I certainly took advantage of the open 24/7 deal.
